DANCE ARTS YOUTH COMPANY
Dance Arts Youth Company (DAYCO) at Dance Arts Studio in Springfield, IL, provides enrichment, outreach and performance opportunities for Dance Arts Studio students aged seven and older.
As a member of DAYCO, dancers receive additional training in classical ballet, contemporary ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre and tap — with options for classes covering special interests, such as choreography, costuming, make up, character development and dance history.
Dance Arts Youth Company will present two to three productions each season, while also maintaining classical and contemporary repertoire throughout the year for ongoing performance opportunities.
Through DAYCO, dancers may also participate in Student Examinations with American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum by enrolling in an exam class coached by ABT affiliate teacher, Gina DeCroix Russell. Exam schedules will vary, but are typically held early summer. Additionally, as part of DAYCO, serious classical ballet dancers may also explore opportunities for participating in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) North American Semi-Finals competition and master classes.
On Friday, March 4, 2022, we held open auditions for interested Dance Arts Studio students aged seven and older for our brand new studio company -- Dance Arts Youth Company (DAYCO).
We had such an amazing turn out, with 40 DAS students interested in many (or all!) of our exciting program offerings! Through DAYCO, dancers have access to monthly company classes and rehearsals, two summer camps, community performances, a fall/winter production, and student exams with American Ballet Theatre's National Training Curriculum!
And, the best part about DAYCO is each dancer can completely personalize their experience as a Company member!
